Years ago I committed to a small project at my church. The sanctuary was known for its gorgeous stained glass windows.

Each week I stared at the light shining through the depictions of the disciples and angels. I really wanted to capture the story of each window and offer it as a gift to the church and future guests.

So I, along with the presence of the Holy Spirit, worked on it with no plan of how it would come together. I didn’t want to ” beg” anyone in the church to contribute. So I just kept working on it anyway.

Word got out and folks started approaching me about how they could help. A retired photographer took amazing photos, and another couple offered to pay for copies of the booklet.

When it was finished, I made it clear that they were to be free. I was immediately told the church could sell them for at least 10.00.

I refused. I said it was okay to sell things, but this project was a product of me and the spirit and it was a gift.

A couple of years later, I contacted the church to request 5 copies be sent to me to give to some friends & relatives.

They sent me the copies with a bill for $50.00.

So the church that gladly received donations to repair their windows, turned around and charged me & the Holy Spirit for copies of the book.

I don’t regret that little project. I learned a lot.

But it is kinda funny to me now.
