When you’re jobless and posess very little money, you can still enjoy a thrift store.

I’ve been sick a lot the past several years and have had no luck with steady employment. I know many people are in the same situation.

It’s crucial that I keep my spirits up! Whatever it takes. And sometimes all it takes is a little spontaneous trip to a thrift store.

Recently, I found a few things to make my day. It’s also fun to just experience a blast from the past. Such as VHS videos.

So many of my favorites filled a shelf. Does anyone else miss video stores?

I appreciate modern technology & conveniences, but those weekend nights at Blockbuster and the local mom & pop stores were a safe and enjoyable way for teenagers to spend a little money and socialize.

I know I always looked forward to choosing a movie, grabbing a pizza, and forgetting the school week for awhile.

And what about the ethics involved? You know what I mean. When all the fun was over, pizza box empty, the tv screen all snowy– you’d get that nagging feeling you should ” be kind and rewind.”

Were you the one that always rewound?

I guess there’s so much rotten news today, like all the school shootings & violence, it wouldn’t hurt to remember the pastimes that caused no trouble. The weekend VHS movie rentals that only asked a small favor.

I think movie rental stores could make a comeback. There’s room for both highspeed technology and the slower paced rituals that the movie rental stores once offered.

A place where all Top Gun and The Breakfast Club fans could meet on the same aisle on a Friday night in small town America.
