When I was a young reader, I enjoyed Trixie Belden mysteries. No matter how strange some of the plots were, the reader could be assured all questions would be answered. The mystery would indeed be solved.
Presently, I also enjoy some of the Murder, She Wrote shows. Angela Lansbury’s character is open minded until the end; she is truly concerned about proper justice.
I never got interested in unsolved mysteries. There’s usually an explanation for most things.
Which is why as both a writer and person of faith, I know there’s answers about what happened to me in 2010.
Testimonies are important. How can people have real hope without true stories?
I’ve watched many of the cold case and other crime shows. They are narrated by people who believe in answers. Who understand the human need for peace of mind.
I cringe when people say knowing the truth, or bringing a person to justice, doesn’t change anything or bring a victim back.
So what?
That is not the purpose behind solving cases. The purpose is some peace of mind and justice.
As a person of faith, I believe in forgiveness and restoration when possible.
But forgiveness has nothing to do with justice. One can choose to forgive, but that is deeply personal and has nothing to do with the proper execution of justice.
For the Lord loves justice (Psalms 37).
