It is still taboo, in many Christian circles, to acknowledge evolution. Personally, I’ve never thought it was a threat to religion.
Think about it.
A Creator can create a living creature, and also allow free-will that may result in evolution.
Has your brain not evolved since Kindergarten?
Have your talents & skills not evolved?
We celebrate graduations, promotions, and successful diets. I am glad when people evolve into their best selves.
Why would I desire to praise a God that’s against evolution?
I am referring to natural evolution. To gradual changes.

I’ ve always thought the following quote from Charles Swindoll made good sense:
“Don’t expect wisdom to come into your life like great chunks of rock on a conveyor belt. Wisdom comes privately from God as a byproduct of right decisions, godly reactions, and the application of spiritual principles to daily circumstances.”
Sounds like gradual evolution to me.
I included that quote in a yearbook at a Christian school; I added it to the ACADEMICS page.
Now there are some absurd theories about evolution that seem like a desperate attempt to explain away the Spirit of man.
I don’t buy those.
I believe in spiritual evolution. I can’t deny its involvement in my own self. And I agree with author Kyle M. Yates, JR., that:
” While man may prepare for many important events in life, the ultimate and most readiness relates to man’s encounter with God,” (Studies in Amos, p. 68).
Any encounter with divinity may certainly evolve a human being. We don’t have to come up with absurd explanations.
Faith and intellect, as C. S. Lewis taught me, are not incompatible.
Evolution is not so scary after all.
