James C. Howell wrote a book titled Servants, Misfits, and Martyrs.

A very interesting read.

One chapter emphasizes and reminds us that genuine preachers are often harassed.

Howell writes:

The truly spoken word will not often be popular.

That is so true!

Even when preachers are fair and kind, they are often rejected anyway.

So, what keeps us arising everyday?

Like any occupation, I would say a total belief in what they are doing.

And when I arise each day to see how my flowers and vegetables are doing–I often use my hammer to add scrap wood in places that need support.

And sometimes I chuckle as I hammer, remembering a sentence from Howell’s book:

Noah hammered away on his ark while no one else was calling for rain (p. 19).

Yes, that is what I am doing.

Tending the plot I’m given ( Emerson).

No matter who or what is around me–I hammer and hammer to create beauty.

As I’ ve said before, every honest motive is a punch in the dark.

Hammer on 🔨!
